“And He Himselfgave some to beapostles, someprophets, someevangelists, and somepastorsandteachers, for the equipping the saints to do the work of ministry, to edify [build up and strengthen] the body of Christ, until we all come to a unified faith and the full knowledge of the Son of God, [made into] to a perfect man, to the [same] measure and stature of the Lord Jesus Christ;” – (Ephesians 4:11-13)
This verse basically says: Jesus went back to Heaven but left the five functions of the church here to do the work of preparing us to expand the gospel on the earth, and to shape us into the exact replica of the ‘perfect man’, just as Jesus is.
