For century upon century, my people in the west knew of, and fully embraced, the doctrine of divine providence. Divine providence governed their lives, and provided a framework that made sense of the day to day struggles and challenges that everyone faced. A perfect understanding of divine providence was the path that allowed peace to flourish in one’s heart, regardless of the calamities that fell upon them.
