“God’s word is like a fire, refining and burning the stuff you don’t need. It gives you warmth when you’re growing cold. It gives light when you can’t see your way out. It’s Jesus in print, and it should be read through that lens, ’cause all the scriptures point to Him.

I didn’t start out with a love for the Bible. In fact, in my life “before God,” I was not a fan. After my encounter with Papa, I knew I had to read the manual to get closer to God and to get to know Him better. So I prayed a very simple prayer: “God, please let me read the Bible like a boy would read an adventure book.”

The next day, when I cracked open my Bible, the word came alive to me. A raw hunger filled me. There were times I literally wanted to eat the pages (these days, I’ll always have a little dipping sauce within reach). πŸ˜‰

People often ask me if I’m still free of depression (after having battled with it for over 20 years). I am. You know why?

I stay in the word, every day. Jesus, the Word, says, “Remain in me, and I will remain in you.”

The best way to fight depression, worry, anxiety, addiction, whatever it is, is to read your Bible. It’s your antidote.”
